(Not) Wordless Wednesday

I haven't posted on my blog in quite a while because I haven't really had much time to think of anything to say! I started to do a post on my top ten favorite movie characters, an idea that I got here, but it took too long and I didn't get a chance to finish. Instead I'll just post this picture of sweet little Jacob. He will be 6 weeks old on Sunday. He has chubby cheeks....don't you think?

HONEYMA

HONEYMA

Today is my Honeyma's birthday...

I just wanted to wish her a Happy Happy Happy Birthday and I hope she is having a great day!

This time last year for her birthday we were all in Vegas living it up. We went to a 50's style restaurant where they sing old songs while you eat, so of course we had to tell them it was her birthday and they made her sit in the middle of the restaurant and they all sang to her. She said she was embarrassed but I think she enjoyed it.

I just want to say that I don't know what I would do without my Honeyma! She has always always been there when any of us ever needed anything. We can always go to her house and her door is always open. She will always make sure that all of her kids, grandkids, great-grandkids are taken care of, and we all appreciate that! Thanks for being a great Honeyma!

Honeyma almost got to share her birthday with my cousin Carli...but she decided to be born on March 19th instead, and yesterday was her Sweet 16. Happy Birthday Carli!! And she almost got to share her birthday with Jacob, but he has not made his appearance yet.

Next time you see Honeyma...give her a big birthday shout out!!

Fluky

This post is about random things and I didn't want to title it using the word random because I have done that before, so I searched on thesaurus.com for a synonym and I found the word fluky.

My mom came to town today to bring a bunch of 8th graders to some career event at the MPEC. I met her for lunch at Cici's Pizza. There were a lot of kids there, I'm assuming they all came from the same event. Jr. High kids are loud and I'm glad I don't have to be around them every day like she does. Anyway, she bought me some girl scout cookies from my niece and brought them to me, isn't that nice? The thing is, I had bought two boxes from Bailey a while back, and it's the darnedest thing, they just disappeared! I'm glad I now have some replacements.

I went to the Dr. again today. I did not find out anything encouraging, about labor that is. The baby is healthy and has a great heartbeat and I'm very happy about that, but I haven't made ANY progress towards going into labor. I have started having some mild contractions, but nothing regular, so it's just a waiting game now. However, she did say that if I have not started labor before Wednesday of next week, I will likely be induced Thursday or Friday...and that will be AFTER my due date...all I have to say is that this baby better be really good. (haha)

I love American Idol season. It's one of my very favorite shows and so far this year I think it's pretty good. I was sad tonight when Jorge got voted off though, I thought he was such a sweet guy and I wanted him to do well. Hopefully something good will come out of it for him.

My two nieces and two nephews all got matching mini laptops this week. They are ages 8 to 11...how come they get to have all the newest and coolest gadgets and I don't?!!

I guess that's all the fluky things I have to say for now. I'm just trying to pass the time until we're off to the hospital. The bags are packed and by the door...I hope the next time you read my blog, it will be about our precious new little boy!

Random Picture Challenge

Here is my 11th picture in my 11th folder of pictures on my laptop...
It is of my sister Lynsi, and her kids, Ethan, Erick, and Erynn...cute huh? It was taken a year or so ago...probably.
I don't really know why it's called a challenge...but I'll participate anyway. I got the idea from my mom.

Lana...aka...Mom...aka...Nana

I'm a little late with this post...so please forgive me. Yesterday, February 21, 2009 was my Mom's birthday.
I won't say how old she is because
she would kill me if I did.
I just wanted to dedicate this post to her honor.
First of all, she is a wonderful Mom to my brother, my sister, and I. She always has the best advice for us and always supports us in every way. She has put us first and we have always had everything we ever needed. I am thankful to have a Mom like her.
For those of you who know her, you know that she is the guidance counselor for grades K-12 in Chillicothe, Tx. I know she really loves her job and being able to help kids on a daily basis whether it be with their education or their personal lives. I can imagine it's a difficult job every day to counsel kids who have so many problems in their young lives. She does a lot for her school, and since it is a very small school it doesn't have a ton of resources, so she is always using her own resources to help the students there. I know they all appreciate it.
She is also involved in various community activities throughout Childress. She is a member of several committees and groups around town. She also heads up the Miss 4th of July pageant every year and does a great job. She is a Nana to 4 grandkids and 1 on the way...and all of the kids love to go to Nana's house for lots of fun, games, and treats. You can always expect there to be plenty of ice cream and candy at Nana's...and what happens there pretty much stays there. I can't wait until my little one is here and old enough to stay and play at Nana's house. So next time you see Lana...give her a big Happy Birthday shout out! But do not, under ANY circumstances, ask how old she is!

Not Me! Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

Okay, this is my very first Not Me! Monday post and I don't have many things to put it in...but here it goes...

This week I did not go to the grocery store and spend a lot of money on food that requires cooking, then I did not come straight home and order pizza. I would not be so lazy as to not cook all of the delicious food that I just bought. Nope, not me!

And while I was not at the grocery store I most certainly did not buy cinnamon rolls, sugar cookies, and powdered donuts for myself. I know that pregnancy is most certainly not a meal ticket to eat WHATEVER you want so I know for sure I would NOT buy all of that junk! (Oh, and I also did not hide these goodies from Ignacio, that would be so rude!)

While visiting my mother's house this weekend, my whole family and I did not rush outside when we heard fire trucks racing down our street. We are not a nosy family. Later, after we finished supper, we absolutely did not all hop in the car and DRIVE down the street so we could get a better look at the action....what kind of nosy people would do that?!
(Okay, okay...in our defense, we were definitely NOT the only people who did this...there were cars everywhere!)

Thanks for reading my Not Me! Monday post...stay tuned next week for more things I did not do!

A Lot of Work

I haven't blogged in a while because I feel like there's not much exciting stuff in my life to blog about....but here are some things that have happened this week.
Ignacio and I have been going to childbirth classes at the hospital here in Wichita Falls for 3 weeks now. He's been pretty good about paying attention but he says a lot of the medical terms are a little over his head. Tonight, however, was the class about the actual delivery, and of course, videos were involved. Ignacio has never really seen a tiny baby and he has never even held one much less seen one being born...so you can imagine that seeing a birthing video might be a little traumatic for him. I, however, am no stranger to this as I have gone through nursing school and seen several live births, as well as C-sections. Anyway, this video showed 3 deliveries and 1 C-section. And I could see him looking away at times, but for the most part I think he watched. Then after class, he said "Hmm, looks like a lot of work," and patted my shoulder. Thanks!!!
I have also been going to classes for expectant moms...it's not a class about the medical aspects of having a child, but more spiritual aspects of being a mom. It's taught by a local Geometry teacher, and I am really enjoying going to it every week. I think this class is an excellent opportunity for young pregnant women to hear and share experiences with others their own age, as well as older women who have been through it all. Most of the girls in the group are around my age and younger.
My due date is in mid-March and I keep telling my mom that he might come a little early, and she keeps saying "You absolutely cannot have him on March 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th...because that is TAKS!" She runs the show for TAKS testing at her school. I keep telling her that we can't tell the baby when to come and if he wants to come on one of those days, he will, and she'll just have to deal with it! I told her to tell her principal to have a stand-by TAKS giver just in case...but I don't think she did...
You'll just have to stay tuned to find out if she misses the TAKS test!
