A Lot of Work

I haven't blogged in a while because I feel like there's not much exciting stuff in my life to blog about....but here are some things that have happened this week.
Ignacio and I have been going to childbirth classes at the hospital here in Wichita Falls for 3 weeks now. He's been pretty good about paying attention but he says a lot of the medical terms are a little over his head. Tonight, however, was the class about the actual delivery, and of course, videos were involved. Ignacio has never really seen a tiny baby and he has never even held one much less seen one being born...so you can imagine that seeing a birthing video might be a little traumatic for him. I, however, am no stranger to this as I have gone through nursing school and seen several live births, as well as C-sections. Anyway, this video showed 3 deliveries and 1 C-section. And I could see him looking away at times, but for the most part I think he watched. Then after class, he said "Hmm, looks like a lot of work," and patted my shoulder. Thanks!!!
I have also been going to classes for expectant moms...it's not a class about the medical aspects of having a child, but more spiritual aspects of being a mom. It's taught by a local Geometry teacher, and I am really enjoying going to it every week. I think this class is an excellent opportunity for young pregnant women to hear and share experiences with others their own age, as well as older women who have been through it all. Most of the girls in the group are around my age and younger.
My due date is in mid-March and I keep telling my mom that he might come a little early, and she keeps saying "You absolutely cannot have him on March 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th...because that is TAKS!" She runs the show for TAKS testing at her school. I keep telling her that we can't tell the baby when to come and if he wants to come on one of those days, he will, and she'll just have to deal with it! I told her to tell her principal to have a stand-by TAKS giver just in case...but I don't think she did...
You'll just have to stay tuned to find out if she misses the TAKS test!
